Set in Google Pay or Samsung Pay the default card you want to use. To use, simply unlock phone with fingerprint. You'll see card come on screen and a check mark.
To make the switch, use the digital assistant in the bottom-right of your screen on any page on omny.info, and follow prompts to put your reduced fare benefit on your smart device or contactless card. Before starting, you must create an OMNY account. Have your Reduced-Fare MetroCard and your credit/ debit card handy.

From what I have read online, you can use your debit/credit card if it has the little (wifi?) symbol. Or you can set up your card with Google Pay on your phone so that you don't have to whip out your card in public all the time.
You need to call the customer support at #877-789-6669. I think they re-run the card, reset it in the system or some such. In my case they told me when I ride again to tap and that same one again. It would be denied, but to go ahead and tap a second time and it would work. Their website is https://omny.info.
