There is WiFi, external modems you purchase (for the faster speeds we have now), modems you can rent from your ISP, etc. All of these will allow you to connect. Or you can try the slower connect via that modem it has, it just will be a lot slower and you will need an ISP that allows for dial up.

The quality of the streaming video depends on your internet speed (the faster the better so that there is no stuttering) and how well the video is encoded. If encoded poorly, the video will more or less look bad.

Also this could be due to a faulty drive as well, although it is strange that this happens only when you use your laptop in the office.

However, it can be effected by how many devices are connected to the WiFi (and what they are doing), the ISP having issues (which is so common) and also the modem/router.
