You need actual leechers, not partial seeders who have downloaded x% of a torrent then stopped, to get any upload. You are also contesting against 'phat pipes', things like 20gb/sec seedboxes, so seed longer is what is needed if you are using a home connection. Or get your own seedbox of course.

The more generous a seed is, the more bandwidth it is allocated for future torrents that share the same “tracker”, which is the system that coordinates peers within a BitTorrent swarm.
