In order to use mods, you need to be on a Mono branch of Outward. On Steam: Right-click Outward in your Steam library, and choose: Properties > Betas > "default-mono - Public default branch (mono)", there is no access code.

I also suggest installing BepInEx and PartialityWrapper with Vortex. - Download the BepInEx and PartialityWrapper .zip file corresponding to your system. - Go to the "Mods" tab on the left of Vortex - Drop the zip file on the bottom of the page
A mod is a community-made package which modifies or adds to Outward's code or assets in some way. Outward uses the Unity engine (2020.3.26 for Definitive Edition, 2018.4.8 for Vanilla), and can therefore be modded with any compatible mod-loader such as BepInEx, or other Unity modding tools.
Now, reinstall the game, and install BepInEx 5.0.1. This can be found on the outward modding wiki. When BepInEx is downloaded, you can start browsing the Nexus for mods that you want.
1. Make sure all mods are removed from your Outward folder. If you're not sure, just backup your Outward\SaveGames folder and do a complete reinstall of Outward. Any left-over mod files can cause problems, so be sure they're all gone. 2. You need to make sure you're on the "Mono" branch of Outward.
