Start the service, and the icon should change to the Wireless settings one. I had disabled the service in an attempt to reduce the number of processes running on the system, and it didn't seem to cause any problem other than the icon looking like a network cable, instead of the wireless signal bars. Select Network and Internet, Click on Network and Sharing Center, and then choose Manage network connections. Under Manage network connections page, right click the connection that you are using and select Properties. Restart the computer and check if it worked.
