The calculator will show you the calories you consume per week from alcohol beverages. It's important to lose weight slowly, at a rate of about 1/2 to 2 pounds a week. To lose 1 pound a week, you need to consume 500 fewer calories a day than your body burns.
To calculate the calories in alcohol, we use the following formula: Calories = Alcohol Volume (in mL) × Alcohol Percentage (%) × 7.1. This formula takes into account the alcohol volume in milliliters, the alcohol percentage, and a constant factor (7.1) to estimate the calories in your drink. Using our calculator is a breeze:
You put those two numbers into this formula: 1.6 x percentage x oz in glass So this means if you have 10% alcohol, and 4oz in your glass, you would do 1.6 x 10 x 4 which is 64 calories. You can determine exactly how many calories are in any glass of wine you drink. Note: A great deal of research and work went into my wine / health pages.
Did you know a standard glass of wine can contain up to 158 calories, and some pints of stronger lager can contain up to 222 calories? So, if you're trying to lose weight you need to think about what you are drinking as well as what you are eating.
One gram of alcohol provides seven calories (7kcal), compared with 9kcal per gram for fat, and 4kcal per gram for carbohydrate and protein. One unit of alcohol contains eight grams or 10ml of alcohol, which provides 56kcal. However, other ingredients in alcoholic drinks, such a sugar, cream and fruit juice, can add more calories.
