You are correct that there are 3 WTC series. Read them in the following order: Higurashi: When They Cry. The series is divided into 8 games on Steam, simply play 1, then 2, etc. Finishing the 8th game is the end of the story in for the visual novels.
Text boxes in visual novels typically have backgrounds that cover the full screen, so 480x270. The text box is overlaid over the roughly bottom quarter of the screen, so it might be 60-70 pixels tall. You can usually see through the text box but important parts of the image are not placed there.
VNDB estimates I presume are based on reading it yourself and not listening to the entire audio sample. 30 hours unvoiced is actually already longer than the long novels out there. If you need 50-100+ hours (unvoiced) to tell a story, you should either break it down into multiple volumes, or get an editor.

In the case of separate files, you'll need to be drawing at a higher resolution, ideally 2x (so: 3000px tall (FHD), 2000px tall (HD)), and then export the normal sprites at half resolution and the closeups at full resolution.
27 lut 2020 · When you first started planning your visual novel, you probably thought it should be 200,000 words long, with five love interests, 50 backgrounds and 150 CGs. While that sounds amazing, you have to consider exactly how much work that is and if it’s feasible.
4 gru 2015 · I assumed the "battlebacks" would be a good reference point for a good horizontal size, but I wanted to ask here first. If anyone knows of any good dowloadable, horizontal MV visual novel backgrounds that'd also be a big help.
