Biblical hope has moral certainty in it. When the word says, “Hope in God!” it does not mean, “Cross your fingers.” It means, to use the words of William Carey, “Expect great things from God.” Scriptural Evidence. Now let us go to the Scripture to see where I get this understanding of biblical hope. We will begin at Hebrews 6:9–12.
Hope is not a passive emotion; it is a catalyst for action, driving us to live righteous lives that reflect the character of God. As 1 John 3:3 reminds us, hope leads to action. When we place our hope in God, it compels us to purify ourselves, to strive for holiness in all areas of our lives.
