21 sty 2012 · Is there a hidden over-temp fuse or cut-out switch, or some other little device that could be preventing spark? The oil pressure light flickers when I pull on the starter cord, so there's electricity in there somewhere.
30 lip 2016 · Try pulling over engine in the dark to verify no spark. Many of these older models will have a "neutral start switch" mounted on the shaft that is connected to the shift lever. It is located on that shaft just inside the oil case on the starboard side of the outboard. Those go bad or get out of adjustment and won't allow spark.
24 lis 2013 · The ignition circuits on the 50's is very hardy...if you have no spark at all, it could be the exciter, pulser wiring, or cdi. It could also be possible that you lost the magnets under the flywheel. I have seen many magnets delaminate on the vintage that you have...no magnets = no spark.

If the engine fails to start, remove the spark plugs, clean and dry the electrodes, then reinstall the spark plugs and attempt to start the engine again. If used engine oil showed signs of water contamination, then a second engine oil change should be performed after running the engine for 1/2 hour.
