9 wrz 2024 · I think you would be more likey to catch a fox, bobcat, skunk, or raccoon in a live trap than a coyote. This is a hard thing to do. I checked on Youtube and tried to see how many people have actually caught a coyote in a live trap. I found two, one the coyote escaped and the other was a good catch.
Here are the things that you will need in order to build a homemade coyote trap: 1/8 inch aircraft cable, 1/4 inch hex nuts, 3/8 inch flat washer, 5/32 inch drill bit, wire cutters, vise, anvil and a hammer.
Sweep away excess dirt from around the trap. Some folks like to add sticks or rocks around the trap for guiding a coyote's foot to the pan, but I rarely do. The placement of the dirt hole pretty much takes care of that. A dirt-hole set works just fine for bobcats, foxes, raccoons, and other predators.
