Ruby City is a ghost town in Owyhee County, Idaho, United States. It was located along Jordan Creek about a mile below Silver City. [1] Ruby City was a mining town settled in November 1863. [2] The town was the first county seat of Owyhee County and was born to serve the rich mines in the vicinity. [1]
Ruby City was the county seat of Owyhee County from 1863 to 1867. When Silver City mines grew, most of Ruby's buildings were moved there. We had to look hard to find these ruins on the hillside.
3 maj 2017 · Ruby City, Idaho...and a Giveaway. After silver and gold were discovered in 1863 along what is now Jordan Creek in Idaho's Owyhee Mountains, a mining boom erupted in southwest Idaho, and several towns were created in rapid succession. Ruby City was one of them.
