This special article provides updated treatment recommendations on thyroid cancer. New targeted systemic therapies have now been approved for treating patients with advanced/metastatic thyroid cancers. This article summarises these new options and the order in which they should be used.
Thyroid hormone suppression therapy is an important part of the treatment of thyroid cancer. Immediately after surgery thyroid hormone therapy is initiated with dual aim: to replace thyroid hormone and to suppress the potential growth stimulus of TSH on tumor cells (TSH suppressive therapy).
