The association between recent major advancements in treatment and OS has yet to be evaluated. Objective. To evaluate rates of OS in patients with ATC over the last 2 decades.
ATCs are considered one of the most aggressive solid tumours in humans. The median survival after the initial diagnosis is ∼4 months and only one out of five patients survives more than 12 months (1-year survival rates: 10%–20%). Long-term survival has been reported, but the estimated rate at 10 years is <5%.
