Freedom for Anders is Anders's companion quest in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. An elven woman named Namaya can be found standing in the northeast corner of the City of Amaranthine, near the Crown and Lion.
He is the only character to acknowledge the blood mage specialization. However, Anders is opposed to blood magic in Dragon Age II even if you make him a blood mage in Awakening. A Wanted List with Anders' name is found on a templar's corpse during a random encounter.

25 maj 2014 · I "spared" Anders at the beginning of the game and let him go instead of handing him over to the Circle or making him a Grey Warden. Is that the only chance I had of recruiting him? I'm about eight hours in and haven't seen him again.

Anders and Justice changed each other like others have said, Justice in Awakening wasn't a lot like Justice in DAII, something I didn't pick up on until I finally bought Awakening. But Anders just really became more extreme with Justice's help, but Anders has always been like he is in DAII imo.
Anders not only joins your party, but you can invoke the Right of Conscription and put him through the Joining to become a Grey Warden. Personal Quest ¶ Speak with Namaya in Amaranthine (she’s at the northeast) and agree to aid Anders; you will gain the quest “ Freedom for Anders “.
