Basically HDCP 2.3 (which you'll also hear called HDMI 2.1, though that spec is very confusing and we won't get into that here) is largely geared towards future tech, >30 fps 8k and >60 fps 4K more than anything.
Not necessarily dude. You can do 1440p 120hz fine on a HDMI 2.0 cable which has a theoretical bandwidth of 18gbps, which can also do 4K at 60hz. HDMI 2.1 has a maximum theoretical bandwidth of 48gbps which allows it to run at 4K and 120hz. The box doesn’t need to say 4K on it to carry a 4K signal.
