Hair is a groundbreaking and electrifying musical capturing the 1960s counterculture's spirit and its quest for peace, love, and freedom amidst the Vietnam War. The story follows a group of young hippies, the tribe, defying societal norms, embracing love, unity, and self-expression.
Hair opened on Broadway at the Biltmore Theatre on April 29, 1968. The production was directed by Tom O'Horgan and choreographed by Julie Arenal, with set design by Robin Wagner , costume design by Nancy Potts, and lighting design by Jules Fisher .
HAIR returns to Broadway for the first time in over 40 years after a critical and popular smash run on a summer at Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Ben Brantley of the New York Times calls the production “revelatory and exuberant” and proclaims that the musical “has deeper roots than anyone remembered.”
