Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Scouting program of Scouting America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process. The Eagle Scout rank has been earned by over 2.5 million youth. The requirements for Eagle Scout include earning 21 merit badges, 14 of which are required as of July 1, 2022. Any merit badges after the 21 merit badges may qualify for Eagle Palms.
The Scouts BSA Merit Badge program gives Scouts the opportunity to explore and learn. Over 135 badges are available to earn, ranging from American Business to Woodworking. Details of the program are on the Scouts BSA website. Merit badges are required for advancement beyond First Class to Star, Life, and Eagle ranks.

Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC) is a Boy Scouts of America Council created from the merger of the Los Angeles Area Council and the San Gabriel Valley Council. The vote to merge was held on March 21, 2015. [1] The new name for the Council, Greater Los Angeles Area Council, was announced on June 11, 2015.
