Gain access to game-altering modes by earning the various "Cheats" in your folder. Test your skills by completing certain levels within a target time limit. Naturally, the best ones are toughest to unlock. Even finishing the mission right on the line will unlock your new cheat.
The unused cheats are legit and do work on the N64. Extra characters was a staple cheat in our household so we could use the helicopter pilot and Siberian special forces guys in multiplayer.
Having busted out my Nintendo Switch Online N64 controller I tried it out. It is a full mod with multiplayer levels, cheat times and very fun story levels maintaining what you love from Goldeneye. If you always wish Rare made another 007 game, I'd totally try this one out!
Interestingly, there are 11 cheat modes in the game that are implemented but have no way of being unlocked. IMO only one of these really makes sense as the "25th cheat", because it is the only one that has a text string configured for display in the cheat menu, the "Ink and Paint Mode".
