The PDF is fine, but honestly I recently traveled to Japan and after one months I'm thinking about getting the physical, some of my Genki 1 and Genki 2 isn't that great. And PDF just dosent make up for it

I am currently a Tier 2 Patreon and find it worthwhile so far. I have been studying Japanese with Genki on my own before hearing about this stream, so I am a bit farther into the book that where Andy is with the content.

It is impossible or at least extremely inefficient to start learning a language by reading books meant for native speakers. Genki is a popular textbook for a reason, it covers all the basics and will teach you grammar, vocabulary, and kanji through explanations and reading exercises.
