6 lip 2023 · Answer. Genesis 2:24 gives us a picture of the marriage bond before sin entered the world: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24, NKJV).
What does Genesis 2:24 mean? The story of Adam and Eve pauses to make an aside to all who read it: we should follow the pattern of marriage as revealed in the rest of God's Word. Men must leave—or "forsake"—both of their parents and hold fast to—or "stick to"—their wives.

God wanted the man to work in the garden and to take care of it. 16 Then the Lord God told the man, ‘You may eat the fruit from any tree in the garden, as much as you like. 17 But you must not eat any fruit from the tree that gives knowledge of good and evil.
Then the two people become one body.’ (See Genesis 2:24.) So God intended that a man should have only one wife. Lamech was the first man to have more than one wife. After this time, Abraham had an extra wife. (See Genesis 16:1-2.) And Jacob married both Leah and Rachel in addition to 2 extra wives. (See Genesis 29:21-30.)
