24 lut 2022 · I found Ark Nova quite similar to but heavier with more interesting decisions. Earth is more like . Ark Nova is much longer. So I think it depends on what kind of games you can get to the table. Also if you are looking for a four player game then Earth may be better.
30 wrz 2022 · I have all of them plus Ark Nova and Terraforming Mars. I can vouch for Boonlake and Maracaibo, haven't played Underwater Cities yet but from what I watched, it also looks like a nice engine building game with good variability. Another game that I can recommend is . I own and have played it too.
Ark Nova has a huge noob trap where if everyone is derping around building unfocused synergies the game takes too long. Fortunately, even a single player can stop long games with focused efficient gameplay if you have to get the game over with in 2 hours.
Both Kanban and On Mars are a jump up from Ark Nova, but not a massively difficult jump especially if you take the time to really understand it before teaching it/playing it with others. One notable difference is there’s a lot more interaction between players than Ark Nova.
I like both games but I tend to lean towards Ark Nova more because of the end-game mechanic. I would recommend playing TM with the colonies and turmoil expansions, though. They really liven up the game and make you think about the cards differently.
19 lut 2022 · It’s not perfect, and I’m not sure it is the best game to be released in 2021. But if you enjoy your games heavy, featuring lots of meaty decisions, quick turns, a personal zoo, and a buffet of combos available in mid- and late-game turns, you can’t really go wrong with Ark Nova.
18 maj 2024 · Many friends across my five gaming groups believe Ark Nova is still the best “tag-driven” tableau builder ever, eclipsing similar titles such as Terraforming Mars, Earth, and recent additions to the canon like Ancient Knowledge.
