The franc (/ fræŋk /; French: franc français, [fʁɑ̃ fʁɑ̃sɛ]; sign: F or Fr), [n 2] also commonly distinguished as the French franc (FF), was a currency of France. Between 1360 and 1641, it was the name of coins worth 1 livre tournois and it remained in common parlance as a term for this amount of money.
The actual currency in France is the Euro with the symbol € and has been since January 1st, 1999. One Euro is made up of 100 cents, or ‘centimes’ in French. (Of note, France is not a cashless society so Euro notes and 50 cents €1 & €2 coins are always very useful.)
