FFXI works flawlessly on m1 Macs. I was hesitant at first but have installed it on a M1 MacBook Air, and now on a M1 MacBook Pro. I used parallels with windows 11 pro - downloaded ffxi with the installer on the website. When installing I check all 3 - POL, FFXI, and DirectX.

There's Crossover, which is a fork of Wine I believe that's more Mac-focused. Alternatively, you could use virtual machine software like Parallels.
