Some outdoor burning in Georgia requires a permit and/or notification from the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) including 12 types of legal burns listed on our website with the exception of burning outdoor yard debris.
Outdoor burning is allowed in Forsyth County between the months of October and April. The law no longer requires one to inform the Georgia Forestry Commission online or by phone about their intention to burn leaf piles and yard debris.
