24 cze 2008 · Is it possible to install the press fit wrist pins by heating the connecting rod and freezing the pin or is it best to have it done at the machine shop. I'm rebuilding a ford 302 out of a 71 Bronco. I have all the machine work done but I'm wondering if this is something I should myself?
10 paź 2005 · I'm trying to remove the stock pistons from a 1985 302. I have never dealt with pressed in wrist pins before and I don't know if what I'm looking at makes any sense to me. It appears, after lookng real close, that there are "2" wrist pins per rod.

3 wrz 2002 · The rods seem to have a thin bearing pressed into them to accept the wrist pins, which allows the wrist pin to rotate inside the rod. My question is this: Is this normal, considering it contradicts both my Chiltons and Haynes manuals?
21 lip 2011 · The easy way to remove the pin from one is to get a deep socket the size of the pin, put it in the piston pin hole and bump the socket and piston/rod on the anvil. They will pop right out. John
23 paź 2014 · You'll need a shop press and occasionally a BFH to break the pin loose. I pressed a couple. My experience was that using heat to "aid" in removal made it worse. Anyone else run into that?
30 gru 2005 · One of the pistons i pulled out of my 460 has a broken skirt. I bought a new piston to replace it but i cant get the connecting rod off of the old piston. The wrist pin seems to be connected quite firmly to the rod, but floats fully in the piston. How do i get it out?
