Atrial tachycardia is defined as a regular atrial activation from atrial areas with centrifugal spread, caused by enhanced automaticity, triggered activity or microreentry. New ECG classification differentiates between focal and macroreentrant atrial tachycardia.
Given a predefined distribution, the P-wave on surface 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) may provide a useful guide in determining the likely site of origin. In 2006, we developed a P-wave morphology (PWM) algorithm that was highly accurate (93%) in diagnosing the location of focal AT (3).
4 cze 2024 · ECG shows a regular atrial tachycardia with P-wave morphology different from that in sinus tachycardia. A trial of adenosine can help differentiate focal AT from other supraventricular tachycardias. Initial therapy should be guided by cause, comorbid conditions, hemodynamic status, and patient preference.
30 maj 2023 · Focal ATs (also referred to as atrial ectopic tachycardias) arise from a single site within the left or right atrium, in contrast to macroreentrant atrial arrhythmias (eg, atrial flutter) and atrial fibrillation, which involve multiple sites or larger circuits.
5 gru 2022 · Symptoms of intermittent focal or multifocal atrial tachycardia may relate to underlying heart or pulmonary disease. An electrocardiogram (ECG) reveals a regular, narrow-complex tachycardia in which P waves differ from their appearance in sinus rhythm. P waves may sometimes disappear into the preceding T waves. 4.
11 lip 2014 · Twelve-lead ECG of focal atrial tachycardia (FAT). A 12-lead ECG (done at 50 mm/s paper speed) of an infant with FAT during adenosine administration. The atrial rate is 200 beats per minute and P-wave morphology is consistent with a left atrial origin.
