Roles are the main function that are randomly assigned among players. Each role has a utility and behavior. Some roles existed since Flicker's legacy version. In Regular Mode, the roles are separated into three different teams: the Good Team, the Evil Team, and the Neutral Team.

There is always a Detective in a game, along with one "Sleuth" role (Spy or Psychic), one "Helpful" role (Medic or Savior), and Twins or Muffin Man. The Detective is one of three roles that cannot visit other players.
In the beginning of a Regular Mode round, players can select a map. Unlike Anonymous Mode, there are no other features present in this map selection mechanism. Regular Mode has three teams. The Good Team consists the Detective, Savior, Medic, Psychic, Spy, Survivor, Muffin Man, and Twins.
Classic Gamemode has all of the roles in 2017 through early 2020. In March 2020, they added Twin and Muffin Man, and on June 22nd, they added 6 more roles, and a clown role should be coming soon to flicker.
