1 kwi 2022 · Gardai are warning Irish account-holders to be vigilant against fraudsters who stole more than €22.5m from them in 2021 alone - which saw a massive spike in such crimes over the previous year.
• Always say “NO” to unsolicited callers or texters seeking private information about you. Private information includes your name, address, date of birth, family details, bank account numbers, PIN, Passwords • Independently verify any requests for information and never use the contact details supplied to you by the caller or texter.
20 lut 2023 · Government departments and agencies or your bank will never phone, text, email or video call you unexpectedly asking for your bank details. Never give your bank details, passwords or personal details if it seems a bit odd or out of the blue.

How did the scammers get my number? Scammers use software to call or text a range of numbers at the same time and then note which are answered. Answered numbers are recorded as genuine in-use numbers and may be sold on the internet to other cybercriminals.
