The following instructions are intended to help retail sales staff who use the Commission’s mapping tool to assist consumers in choosing an appropriate television receiving antenna: Go to http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/dtvmaps/.
This is a mapping tool that will let you browse the TV transmitters in your area and see their coverage maps. Channel reception is estimated using the same 3D propagation modeling algorithms that are used throughout this site, but the results are presented in a more visual and dynamic format.
Our mapping tool will allow you to view the TV transmitters in your area. Using this tool, you will see the radius patterns showing the distance of coverage between your location and the broadcast towers.
Check with retail consultants and consumer websites to make sure that any antenna you choose provides good reception of both VHF and UHF channels. Even if you use a digital-to-analog converter box, you will still need to use an antenna to receive DTV signals.
