This is my first single player FF game and I needed some help on License Boards. I just unlocked the ability to obtain a second License Board and I was thinking of going with these choices: Vaan: Shikari / Uhlan. Penelo: White Mage / Time Battlemage. Balthier: Knight / Foebreaker. Fran: Archer / Machinist.
At this point, you can decide how far you wish for everyone to have progressed on the licence board, and easily get them to a reasonable point. Get their basic job class requirements that you see needing/wanting (armor, weapons, MP/spells for mages), and HP.

I finally decided to give this game a try after picking it up in May and while I understand how the license board system works, I don't know which license board is best for who. My current setup is: Vaan - Bushi. Balthier - White Mage. Fran - Archer.
Boards just reset and you get all your license points back, so you can really just select whatever class you think might seem cool for each character and see how it goes. Nothing is locked in...
The sticky shows the license boards in detail if that's all you need to plan it yourself.
The License Board is a checkered board, with numerous squares each relating to a license. Licenses that the player already has appear solid, squares adjacent to already activated squares appear glowing, while the rest of the squares on the board are blank.
