24 lip 2023 · The pelvic cavity is a bowl-like structure that sits below the abdominal cavity. The true pelvis, or lesser pelvis, lies below the pelvic brim (Figure 1). This landmark begins at the level of the sacral promontory posteriorly and the pubic symphysis anteriorly.
The female reproductive tract is all located within the pelvis. It is made up of the vulva, the vagina, the cervix, the uterus, the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. These organs are supported in the pelvis by ligaments. The vulva refers to the external female genitalia.
