This is the 1981 Halloween Saturday Night Live episode which featured as music guest the band Fear. The band's appearance included a group of moshers, among them John Belushi, Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat (and later Fugazi), Tesco Vee of The Meatmen, Harley Flanagan and John Joseph of The Cro-mags, and John Brannon of Negative Approach.
During the performance, one SNL producer was hit in the chest with a pumpkin, some equipment was destroyed, and during the last song (“Let’s Have a War"), one audience member grabbed the microphone and yelled out “Fuck New York!”. As a result, FEAR was permanently banned from SNL.
