Game of Thrones. When 'John Yellowsnow' (Peter) is unable to perform sexually, Lady Yellowsnow (Lois) dismisses it because he had just spent a week on the island of Mykonos. She receives a message via raven from her twin sister that the king has died, so John sets out to stake his claim to the throne.
GoT shit the bed. Family Guy has just spent the last decade repeatedly pissing the bed until it's like a paddling pool with sheets on. It's a difference in the distance fallen and the time taken to die. Like Bran and Tommen.
I think it's interesting that the series goes from grounded-but-silly in Season 1 to getting sillier in Season 2 to being batshit insane in Season 3. Then Seasons 4,5, and 6 go in reverse, getting more grounded as they go.
