You will find a wall with 2 eyes - place this gem in the missing eye. Walk around the walls with the eyes (watch your compass here!) and find 3 more gems (4 in all) and place them in 4 eye slots - the eyes will turn purple when you are successful.

I've been on a bit of a rampage with steam + GOG sales this past week, and just picked up the Eye of the Beholder 1-3 collection. Wondering if anybody could let me in on some tips for a first-timer. I assume there's a manual and I'll definitely be reading it, but I just like to see how people think of the game broadly. 11.
A new evil is plaguing the city of Waterdeep, stalking the streets and preying on its citizens. Though initially thought to come from afar, this great evil, known only as Xanathar, instead resides within Waterdeep and, if not stopped, threatens to overwhelm the city.
You'll find a Mage Scroll of Shield on the ground here. You'll discover a dagger carving at each of these three locations, plus another at a fourth location (#7). If you place a Dagger into each carving, then you'll complete the Special Quest for this level, which will reward you with Rations at each carving.
