EXCEL aims to increase student success in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) during the transition to university life by connecting UCF students, faculty, and staff in STEM disciplines, and creating a learning community to support discovery and engagement.
I'm graduated now, but I did the EXCEL program when I attended UCF. It was probably one of the better decisions I made TBH. I was in the "excel" math classes - it just means it was a normal math class that you would have tested into (algebra, trig/precalc, calc 1, etc), but it was only excel students.
EXCEL is tailored to students who are committed to pursuing a STEM degree. They’ll join a community of learners who share many of the same interests. During the first year in EXCEL, students participate in EXCEL cohort math courses, STEM Seminar I and II, and the necessary sciences for their major.
The EXCEL program aims to increase student success at the university level, specifically in your chosen STEM discipline. We do this by creating connections between STEM students, their faculty and staff in a learning community environment that supports discovery and engagement.
Taking the required math courses for their major with the EXCEL program (Calculus I – Differential Equations) OR Taking discipline specific courses cohorted by EXCEL.
