Etisalat (Sinhalese: එටිසලාට් Etisalat; Tamil: எடிசலாட்) (formerly known as Celltel and later Tigo), was a mobile telecommunications network in Sri Lanka. It was owned by the UAE based telecommunications operator Etisalat until December 2018.
Sri Lanka’s native Hutchison Telecommunications Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. is the local subsidiary of Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Holdings Limited. Hutch acquired Etisalat Sri Lanka operations in the late 2019s and currently serves subscribers on both 078 & 072 prefixes with affordable 4G services.

6 gru 2018 · CK Hutchison has completed the merger of its operations in Sri Lanka with Etislat Lanka, the subsidiary of Emirati based Etisalat. Under the merger agreement, first announced in April, Etisalat has completed the sale of its 100% shareholding in Etisalat Lanka to Hutch Lanka in return for a 15% stake in the combined entity.
