In philosophy, an ethical dilemma, also called an ethical paradox or moral dilemma, is a situation in which two or more conflicting moral imperatives, none of which overrides the other, confront an agent.
An ethical dilemma exists when there is a conflict between two (or more) ethical mandates. As there is a conflict, it implies a complex situation, and thus ethical dilemmas present the greatest hazard to ethical conduct.
