Erik eventually confessed to his psychologist, Jerome Oziel, who then told his mistress, Judalon Smyth. Oziel began recording his sessions with Lyle and Erik. [ 52 ] After breaking up with Oziel, she informed the police about the brothers' involvement in the murders. [ 53 ]
Brothers Erik and Lyle Menendez are on trial for the August 1989 shotgun murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in the family’s Beverly Hills mansion. The brothers were arrested in March 1990 after Erik confessed during a session with his psychologist.
Di Frasso denied the charges, and the District Attorney dismissed the case. A vigilant Barnekow repeated the charges to the press, which only succeeded in putting an end to Kay's friendship with the countess. Despite these recent troubles, Kay still wanted to marry Barnekow.
