2 lip 2023 · A passport renewal application (form DS-82) is used to renew an existing or recently expired U.S. passport book and/or card, which serves as a travel document verifying the identity of U.S. citizens or non-citizen U.S. nationals.
Form DS-82 is the application form required to apply for a passport renewal by mail. The form and detailed instructions can be downloaded below. The estimated time required to complete the application is 40 minutes but most applicants finish much faster.
During the application process, you will be required to mail your current passport and your passport application to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. If you do not have your passport book in your possession, you must apply for a new one in person using a DS-11 passport application form.
