24 paź 2024 · The wireless interface on the repeater does not get an IP address as it is now acting as a transparent bridge. Any client devices connected to the repeater via an Ethernet cable (wired clients) should now be transparently connected into the main network over the wireless (WDS) link.
3 Answers. Sorted by: 15. WDS is supposed to be guaranteed to work if both devices support it. The other AP must be specifically configured for WDS mode and for the hardware address of this device. The two APs synchronize their lists of clients, and each accept traffic from (and for) each other's clients. It's the official "right way" to do things.
21 kwi 2017 · 802.11 can carry the fourth, originator's MAC address, and this is used in WDS mode by repeaters. This feature can be enabled on Linux too, using iw, and enabling this mode will allow wlan0 to be used in bridge interfaces, as well as with VirtualBox bridged networking: iw dev wlan0 set 4addr on.
2 paź 2024 · If you have radios/spectrum to spare the two WDS on different channels certainly is an easy method. If you're already talking sending data over two 5ghz links between two or four AP's. Perhaps a more elegant solution is using batman iv with vlans and going for a mesh topology.

24 cze 2011 · Yes, you have to configure OpenWrt to know to do WDS bridging to the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND. Unfortunately WDS is notoriously under-specified and thus differently implemented between different Wi-Fi chipsets, and thus not always compatible, even with the heroic efforts of aftermarket firmware distros.
