Abstract. Nutrition exists when food security is combined with a sanitary environment, adequate health services, and proper care and feeding practices to ensure a healthy life for all household members.
Based on empirical evidence and theory, we articulate an ethical framework to guide expansion. Just food policies should (1) embrace compassion, (2) create opportunity, (3) consider essential needs, and (4) promote knowledge and empathy.
