22 wrz 2020 · Temporal bone CT scans are primarily used to assess the bony structures, such as ensuring that the course of the facial nerve is not aberrant, particularly in patients with CHARGE syndrome, branchio-oto-renal syndrome, or dysplasia of the semicircular canals.

This section of the website will explain how to plan for an MRI internal auditory meatus (IAMS) scans, protocols for MRI IAMS, how to position for MRI IAMS and indications for MRI IAMS.
25 lip 2024 · Thin-slice CT scan through the temporal bones, also called high-resolution CT, is the imaging modality of choice. Axial and coronal (or preferably 20 degrees coronal) thin-slice bone algorithm non-contrast scans are needed to adequately demonstrate the inner ear structures and subtle early changes 1-3 .
29 gru 2015 · CT and MRI are primarily used for imaging of the temporal bone. We first present the standard technique and protocols most often used, then review the special considerations for both modalities. A brief overview of the roles of plain radiographs, ultrasound (US), positron emission tomography (PET), and PET/CT is given at the end of this section.
The ear canal and tympanic membrane should be examined using a device that provides appropriate magnification and illumination which has been produced for the purpose of ear examination, meets relevant safety standards, and is referred to as an ‘otoscope’.
4 lut 2022 · CT is usually the first diagnostic modality used to evaluate the EAC and is the superior method for demonstrating bone changes. MRI provides excellent tissue characterization and enables one to better define lesion extension and perineural tumor spread.
14 cze 2024 · Van der Jagt compared the visibility of inner ear structures between a 3T and a 7T scanner in patients with sensorineural hearing loss. At 7T, the better spatial resolution and the higher signal-to-noise ratio resulted in a more detailed presentation.
