She hasn't had the proper training to stick with you or come back on command. She shouldn't be punished for what she has never been taught. If you do want to allow her off leash I recommend doing your research on teaching a solid recall. Look up recall training on YouTube or find a trainer.
My own current dog ran away just two weeks after we rescued her. She was outside, spooked, slipped her collar and just took off like a rocket. We spent the whole afternoon driving around the neighborhood looking, and finally gave up when it got dark. Then she came trotting up the driveway out of nowhere. I got her a martingale collar after that.
He has the energy of a puppy and no human can keep up with the seemingly endless ammounts of energy he has. Ive watched hours of training videos and i just cant seem to find a solution to his running away. I want to be able to let him run freely in the yard but the second he is off a leash he takes off.
