A darkness spell creates a sphere of magical darkness. Unlike natural darkness, light doesn't shine in it and doesn't pass through it.
18 sty 2024 · Within an area subject to Darkness (spell level 2) if I wield a sword that magically emits light, the light is not affected by the spell. My question is what happens if have a magical effect of Darkness versus a magical effect of light or dim light?
18 lut 2018 · Light from spells or any magic item can illuminate the area of darkness, but a magic item or the light cantrip will not dispel the Darkness (permanently). When casting Darkness it does instantly dispel any spells in its area which are providing magic light if that spell is below 2nd level.

I'm playing a shadow sorcerer and I recently unlocked shadow walk, this led to me trying to find ways to make quick and reliable darkness without casting the darkness spell as my master uses really simple maps without any dim light or darkness, any suggestions?
Covering that object with something opaque, such as a bowl or helm, blocks the Darkness. If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of Bright Light or Dim Light created by a spell of level 2 or lower, that other spell is dispelled.
