Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft, one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage. Adult brown bears are powerful, top-of-the-food chain predators, but much of their diet consists of nuts, berries, fruit, leaves, and roots. Bears also eat other animals, from rodents to moose.
In the Brown Bear it is specified to be a Claw attack and a Bite attack, because they have separate effects. They deal different damage, and Claw has a secondary feature. This is likely also another reason for it to be Claw and not Rend, because they have different rules.
