Developed in the early 1900s, Diesel Locomotive (DLO) cables were designed for wiring diesel-electric locomotive trains. These heavy duty 2kV cables were used as power-leads in traction motors and as open wiring to the diesel electric motors.
15 gru 2023 · We will detail the construction and specifications of DLO cable, alongside a look at their current ratings. Furthermore, we also discuss practical issues like locomotive wire compatibility with conduit systems and explore viable alternatives for different scenarios.
Today, there are several manufacturers that are making DLO cable with a UL RHW-2 rating, which gives the cable a 90°C wet or dry rating. DLO has excellent resistance to oils, acids, alkalis, heat, flame and has outstanding abrasion resistance.
3 gru 2019 · DLO Cable stands for “Diesel locomotive cables” or DLO Wire. DLO Cable was originally developed for wiring diesel-electric locomotive trains dating back before the 1920s, over 100 years ago. Back then, these heavy-duty 1kV and 2KV Diesel Locomotive cables were used as power leads in traction motors.
Today, there are several manufacturers that are making DLO cable with a UL RHW-2 rating, which gives the cable a 90°C wet or dry rating. DLO has excellent resistance to oils, acids, alkalis, heat, flame and has outstanding abrasion resistance.
The standard voltage rating for a DLO cable is 2kV. It has a maximum temperature of +90C in both wet and dry environments. Most DLO cable is also UL RHH/RHW and CSA RW90 listed.
Ampacity – Based on single conductor in free air, 30°C ambient temperature, 90°C conductor temperature . For ambient temperature other than 30°C, multiply the allowable ampacities shown above by the appropriate factor shown below.
