4 mar 2011 · In April 2007, the racing community lost the legendary Dick Smith in a plane crash that claimed his life and that of his stepson Kyle. Dick was the owner and driver of CSX 3035, the famous #198 that set a speed record at Daytona with his original Cobra.
On April 18, 2007 we lost another 427 Cobra driver, Dick Smith, in a airplane crash north of Los Angeles. Dick Smith was 73 years old and was a very experienced aviator being a commercial pilot at one time, he passed away doing one of his favorite pasttimes: flying.

17 kwi 2012 · The car in the video is Dick Smith's car. If you look fast enough at the beginning you can see the California black plate on the car. All the other pics are the original car, except the white one and that belongs to John Spina of Chicago.

Raced by Dick Smith, this 1965 427 Cobra won more races than any other Cobra. It also recorded the highest top speed of its kind at 198 mph. Needless to say, it occupies hallowed ground in the world of storied Cobras.
