What is game-based learning in education? • ‘Game-based learning’ broadly refers to the use of video games to support teaching and learning. Although it is a relatively established notion, it is hard to define precisely. We have arrived at a definition by extracting the key principles and mechanisms involved, which Figure 1 shows.
