18 sty 2018 · The audio-lingual method (ALM) was developed in the 1940s in the US, paralleling the British “structural-situational method.” ALM continued as a packaged methodology through the 1970s with some techniques still being used in second and foreign language classes in a variety of teaching contexts today.
Audio-lingual method (ALM) was developed on two prominent theories: behaviorism and structuralism. Behaviorism explained that human behavior could have been developed through reinforcement. Thus ALM believed that to learn second language, a learner had to be given a sequence of stimulus, response, and reinforcement.
