12 sie 2014 · We tested this assumption by developing a quantitative method to measure overlap in dispersal habitat of 3 threatened species—a bird (the umbrella), a butterfly, and a frog—inhabiting the same...
We reviewed the literature to evaluate the concept’s general usefulness. An umbrella species is defined as a species whose con-servation is expected to confer protection to a large number of naturally co-occurring species.
In this paper, we use a maximum-like-lihood, multi-species distribution modeling approach to select an ap-propriate conservation umbrella from a group of candidate species occupying similar habitats.
26 gru 2013 · We identified umbrella species associated with high taxonomic and functional biodiversity in urban areas in Switzerland. We analyzed 39,752 individuals of 574 animal species from 96 study...
7 gru 2022 · Umbrella species are species that are selected as representatives of their ecosystem when conservation plans are being made. By protecting these organisms, other species that are a part of...
1 gru 2014 · We tested this assumption by developing a quantitative method to measure overlap in dispersal habitat of 3 threatened species—a bird (the umbrella), a butterfly, and a frog—inhabiting the same fragmented landscape. Dispersal habitat was determined with Circuitscape, which was parameterized with movement data collected for each species.
We demonstrate a novel application of neutral landscape models (NLMs) to test the efec-tiveness of greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus uro-phasianus) as an umbrella species for grassland songbirds at a grassland-sagebrush ecotone in north-eastern Wyoming, USA.
